TWO EXAMPLES

                         1.

The exotic car show comes to town.
Each entry gets examined.
Some run on xenon.
Some come from garages in other states.
They are not native to this place.

They come anyway.
No one expects them
to blend in with the everyday
Chevys, the Ford F-150s
everyone here has

a commitment to the local.
Most of them work
in the xanthan gum factory.
Their expertise is making this
stabilizer; a thickening agent.

                          2.

A body gets exhumed in the cemetery.
Experts determine from fragments
what a man this was.
Out of the ground  the exact same shoes
as this man who went missing

from his exercise club.
Everyone expected him
to return.
Every one of his friends live in other states
and they say he was experienced.

Of his last experiences
they know only about the everyday
synthetics, his track suit exempting him
from being native to this place
from which earth will make the local

dioxides
oxygen from his body
                                 laid
out
       like a broken xylophone.

    1. Thanks, Mark. Glad you stopped by. It's been fun writing these. I wonder if writing about numerals could be as enjoyable; then the exercise would never have to end!
